But, it might be observed that the Bible does not look like a theology book, or, for the most part, even a book about morals and ethics. How does this ‘word about God’ come through in it? The Bible is not so much concerned to reveal concepts, principles, and rules as to reveal a person, God. It does so primarily by showing him at work and in relation to the universe and human beings. There are a couple of important assumptions at work: first, that God does what he does because of who he is; we come
